08/03/2008 - The Bridge Hotel

An impromptu performance at short notice. We got a call about 5 hours before start time from Novak, our most awesome benefactor. They needed a band, and they wanted us. It was an interesting gig, played to only a few early arrivers who were no doubt shocked an confused as to what was happening, and a few loyal (and awesome) fans who came at short notice.

We arrived at 7 and had some very interesting technical issues while setting up. We need five direct inputs for all our various audio parts, and the venue only had three. It turned out (after about 40 minutes of troubleshooting) that one of those three was broken, which left us with two. In the end we mixed our entire show in our little mixer, and sent a stereo signal to the mixing desk.

According to the accounts of those in the audience, it went well and sounded good. We performed well, although my between song banter left much to be desired (gotta get over those nerves). This week we'll be sorting out our technical issues and we're looking forward to returning to The Bridge next week for part 2 - the annihilation.
