11th of March 2008 - Adrenaline

I know what musicians mean when they say playing live is like a drug. I got a real buzz from the gig on saturday night. I had a couple of beers afterwards, and they didn't effect me at all. I don't normally drink, so this was significant. The adrenaline stayed with me for a couple of days, and I found it very difficult to sleep for a few nights afterwards. What a great drug though - apart from sleep loss there's no downside.

I reckon I could get addicted to playing on stage. Due to the short notice, there were only a few people at the gig. I wonder what it's like when there's more people there. One of my friends lent me a DVD of Queen live at Wembly Stadium. Just watching that massive crowd gave me adrenaline. It must be quite a buzz to strut around belting out songs to such a massive, receptive audience. It must be awesome to be in control of so many individuals, leading them with song, watching them clap to the beat, and cheering for you. It's got to be the greatest feeling in the world.
